On Thanksgiving: 14 Little Things I'm Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving! In the spirit of the holiday, I thought I'd share some of the smaller things (and maybe a few bigger things) that I'm grateful for in my life. In no particular order...

  1. My eleven-year relationship, including the ups and downs that got us here.
  2. My family, chosen family, friends, and the people who are reading this right now!
  3. Ice cream.
  4. My trip to Chicago in 2000 with my girlfriend. I was 18, she was 17, and it was a total adventure. And we met Mariah Carey! I'll never forget the good time we had.
  5. The ability to work from home as a writer.
  6. The fact that I can have my original Nintendo system and our new Wii hooked up on the same TV in front of a comfy couch.
  7. All the times my family and I went Up North when I was a kid. Do they say "Up North" anywhere but in Michigan?
  8. My little red 1999 Ford Ranger.
  9. Watching retro TV on YouTube.
  10. Lemons, tomatoes, and Tabasco sauce.
  11. Thanksgiving and Christmas specials on TV--and my new DVR to watch them on. :)
  12. My Tea Drop hot tea maker.
  13. Lazy weekends!
  14. Bewitched on DVD.
I love the fact that I live in a world and in a time where we can enjoy these simple things. At the end of our lives when we look back on it all, those little things that we enjoy the most will turn out to be the point of it all. That's where you find the most meaning. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you had a great one!
