You probably headed over here to check out the latest poem, which is in the post below this one! I had to post again because I just saw that our counter has reached 6000 visitors. I wish I could say it was more than that, but considering my long absences from the web world, I think that's a pretty big accomplishment! :) It shows that even when I'm not putting enough work into the website, people's hunger for poetry does exist. No market for poetry? Don't believe it. The fact that you're here proves otherwise.

Every single time I have shared my work with people, the first thing I hear is, "I wish I could write poetry." It seems to me that I'm surrounded by frustrated poets who don't know they are writers to begin with! You CAN write poems. I wasn't born cranking out poetry. I was inspired at age thirteen by Maya Angelou's poetry, and I began by mimicking her, following one of the greats. As the years went by I settled comfortably into my own style. You can do that too.

That is one of my plans for this website--to launch a full scale "learn how to write poetry" class where I can share the joy of this with other people. Writing poems is so therapeutic, so healing... Some of you get that from just reading it, but others long to write it themselves. You guys got me all excited with the news of 6000 visitors! I couldn't help but do a little late night rambling. Thanks for all the support, all the hunger for poetry, all the interest in what I do. You are the reason for every word on this page. Good things are coming up very soon, stay tuned...
