Excited about the New Kids on the Block reunion? I am, and here's why...

I have avoided posting anything about the New Kids on the Block reunion for the last two weeks even though buzz is spreading on the internet like wildfire. But when I came across this article today... Well, the writer managed to capture exactly what I am feeling about the reunion.

What you may not know about me is that I was a HUGE New Kids on the Block fan back then, and I have always continued to be, through it all. I saw them in concert in 1990, saw Jordan Knight in concert for his first solo album, traveled to several of Joey McIntyre's solo concerts in 1999 and met him (it's a long story that I've yet to really tell, but the bottom line is that I don't know if I would be here right now if it weren't for his song Stay the Same), and I have continued to follow all of their careers ever since.

Like the rest of the world I got caught up in the hype of it all and the craziness back then, but what remains is the music, which I think some people have forgotten about. They remember the merchandise and the money, but they forget about the five amazingly talented guys from Boston who were behind it all. For me it is still about that music--and I am still influenced by that in ways that some people will never understand. If you're inspired by my writing, by my poetry and lyrics, then you have to know that a great deal of that comes from them. So I am pretty much bursting with joy at news of a reunion--waiting patiently for a new album and crossing my fingers for a tour.

I didn't want to post this here because this isn't a New Kids on the Block blog, it's a Kelley blog. But in the end as I am re-reading what I just wrote, I'm realizing that this post is in fact about me--yet another piece of me that I am sharing with you through this blog. Part of my efforts to be less boring? Maybe. But mostly I guess I just couldn't contain it anymore! So anyway, if you were a fan who can understand this nostalgia, then check out the article that inspired me to write this just now. Even if you weren't, at least you'll get to know another piece of me.

I hope you guys have a great week, and thank you for making it through this post if you're not a New Kids fan! :) Who knows, maybe you will be, the second time around...
