On Chicago's Trump Rally Protests
I'll preface this blog post with a disclaimer that I'm not one to get very specific online when it comes to my political opinions. I don't claim a specific party affiliation and I base my vote on the candidate's stance on the issues and on what I can discern of their integrity. My main assertion every election year is simply to VOTE and make your voice heard. I'm open about who I vote for, but I won't tell you who to vote for.
Having said that, tonight, I'm going to strongly suggest who NOT to vote for. When I see a bigot running for President of the United States and somehow gaining actual traction, I'm going to speak up. If there has ever been a time to speak up, it is now. So here we go.
What happened in Chicago tonight is merely a hint of what we'll see if this country chooses to elect this POS in November. This was not a riot, it was a demonstration, and I am proud of Chicago for shutting this rally down tonight.
This man is calling people rapists and murderers based on the color of their skin. He has encouraged his supporters to attack others and has said he will pay their legal fees. He is insane and should have been stopped long ago. I don't understand how someone this hateful can even be allowed to run for public office.
Let this not be the last time that our nation shuts him down. Let this be a wake-up call to those who have somehow fallen for his BS. Someone I know (@itsWanda) said on Twitter (see below) that this isn't like the Vietnam protests because Trump isn't government YET. Wise words. Let's not let that happen.
And I'll wrap up this blog post with a few of my favorite tweets from tonight, which probably say it so much better than I did:
I'm gonna really miss these two. pic.twitter.com/t9bRYZDbAt

Kudos to the @Chicago_Police for finding a way to bring a peaceful solution to such a sad and troubling event. #PeacePlease

Donald Trump has no control of his campaign. He wound up his supporters with bigotry and hate and the anger now has spun out of control.

.@realDonaldTrump You have promoted violence and have stoked the anger of your supporters. Your campaign is a shame to our nation.

Chicago. Raise up. Stand up. Chicago.

Chicago, you're doing us proud. Stay safe.

No, it's not like protesting the Vietnam War in 1968. Trump isn't the government, yet. Let's make sure that never happens.

There was no riot here in Chicago. It was a demonstration. If you're calling it a "riot," perhaps you've never seen an actual riot.

Donald Trump = The Shame Of Our Nation.

When you refuse to denounce the KKK, we will protest you. And we won't stop.
Sincerely,
America

Context: Trump has told his supporters to "knock the crap" out of protesters, and he'd "pay for the legal fees."https://t.co/WjEgLb2N3E
