Paper Dreams — a poem about one-sided love

Paper Dreams — a poem about one-sided love

Paper Dreams

Can you imagine how much love
is woven through these trees for you?
Through these small town streets
where I drive and sing and dream,
where I fantasize and romanticize
about lovers who never loved me?
It is heartbreakingly beautiful,
even if your eyes can't perceive
all the strings of heart beads
and streamers of paper dreams.
How lucky you were
to be loved so greatly
and yet how tragic
to be lightyears away
from this heartbeat.
